WELCOME TO ONE ACRE FARMING BLOG!
Hi, my name is Emma and this is my backyard gardening blog. My husband and I live in the suburbs, just outside of Durban, in South Africa, on an acre of land, with four massive pecan nut trees that tower over our garden. We are slightly plant obsessed, growing everything from fruit trees and vegetables, to orchids, air plants and more. The goal of this blog is for me to simply share my gardening efforts, about growing stuff, to try live and encourage a simple lifestyle, heirloom gardening, preserving food, from scratch cooking, suburban farming, baking & more - a personal field journal, available online.. Also to provide tips we’ve learnt through our own experiences and through watching countless videos on youtube.
ABOUT ME
I love to garden and I am on a quest to become more self sufficient and less dependent on the grocery store for our necessities. As our economy becomes more and more complex, we have less control over where our food comes from. It’s time to take back our lives, learn to live more simply, and get back to our roots.
So I hope you enjoy the blog. Please feel free to leave comments as its always lovely to get feedback. I try to respond to comments as much as possible but sometimes life and work get in the way but I will do my best to respond especially if your comment is a question, or contact me here.
Thanks for joining me on my adventures!
What About You?
If you are reading my blog, chances are you’re either living the homesteading lifestyle, or you hope to someday. The great news is that there are many things that you can do, even in a small apartment, to become more self sufficient.
Check out my post What is Self Sufficiency? for some ideas on how to become more self sufficient, even if you don't live out in the country!
